From 30th November 2016 until 31st March 2017, Spanish fashion brand Loewe presents the second art exhibition at Loewe’s flagship store in Miami Design District, showcasing masterpieces from Irish artist William McKeown and a unique array of pottery from English potter extraordinaire John Ward.
The two artists are gifted with individual artistic talents, with William McKeown specializing in oil painting, water painting and sketching in his storytelling. McKeown is known for his portraits which appear simple on the surface but hide deeper, captivating meanings which invoke your inner philosopher. Most of the art are made with subtle reference to time, place and memory, while exploring freedom in a deeper context.
There will be 15 William McKeown art pieces on exhibition. The art pieces will be set against a bright orange backdrop featuring cuckoo birds, the contrasting effect adding a crisp and refreshing impression.
John Ward interprets his pottery closely to our daily lives, using simplicity and practicality as the essence of his creations. Painted over with stripes and bright colors, the creativity of John Ward is amplified a he gives life to his pottery. In love with the ancient pottery from China, Egypt and Persia, John Ward draws heavy inspiration from the cultural elements, in addition to his upbringing in Pembrokeshire, which instilled his love for nature.
The exhibition will showcase 40 of John Ward’s pottery. The array of pottery is handmade from clay, undergoing an extremely intricate process before taking form. The matte exterior is smoothened out by pebbles to achieve a glossy effect.
