Oxford Shoes (also known as Oxfords) are formal shoes made of leather and generally worn together with western or business suits; but today, the Oxfords have evolved into a range of styles for the contemporary man to mix and match for both formal and casual wear.
The Oxford Shoes exudes a classic, British elegance with its designed derived from horse riding boots before it eventually gained popularity with Oxford University students. The Oxfords are characterized with shoelace eyelets tabs and patterned with distinctive embellishment or curved stitching features on the toe cap, or either on both of its sides or on the front of the shoe.
Even though the Oxford Shoes can be recognized by its own characteristics, it is still commonly mistaken with the Derby Shoes as they are similar in terms of leather craftsmanship and embellishment design. However, what makes them distinctly different is their lapel and lacing design. An Oxford shoe is created with closed lacing, meaning that the flaps of leather that contain the lacing eyelets are sewn under the vamp; whereas a Derby shoe is defined by open lacing where its quarters or panels of leather (containing the lacing eyelets) are sewn on top of the vamp, rather than under it.
As fashion trend evolves over time, today the Oxford Shoes are available in a number of iterations; but each remains its elegant and proper style as the shoe of choice for everyone. It can be worn with a suit, jacket, shirts, shorts, denims or even cropped or Capri pants and is also suitable to be worn to formal, corporate occasions or for a casual day out.
Renowned fashion brand, BONIA, in its new collection of Fall Winter men’s footwear introduces its new representation of the Oxford Shoes. The new range are contemporarily designed, polished on the surface, shoe tips made pointed, and made with different leather colors and combinations. The shoe design is further personified with its elegant, visibly-sutured pattern; with its dark tone color range, BONIA’s Oxford shoes can easily be matched with a variety of dressing and wardrobe for a smart, refined and gentlemen style.
