Many people think of fashion as a form of vanity, but it is not entirely true as it is a representation of a person’s taste, Andre Amir would know.

If you have been to Suria KLCC, you would definitely have seen posters and billboards of him. Andre Amir is a well-known local fashion icon cum digital content creator with a social media following of 95,000 people. He shares more than his sense of fashion, lifestyle, and grooming, for he has set his niche of premium and luxury market since the very beginning. Over the years, Andre has become a fashion icon in Malaysia, has won many awards, and is always sharing lots of knowledge with his fans.
Q: How did you get started in this industry?
A: I started in 2012 because of my passion for fashion and I started by doing men’s fashion through my social media and I just wanted to share that with the world. I just gained attention especially on Instagram and I’ve won some awards for it and so I felt that I should continue and from men’s fashion I expanded to men’s beauty and lifestyle as well.
Q: What was your biggest challenge by far?
A: Being a brand consultant to many corporate clients, I wanted to brand myself with what I share and show to people. The tough part is to maintain the niche (premium and luxury) in this very competitive industry.
Q: What is fashion to you?
A: Fashion to me is very personal and it can represent one’s personality. Therefore, it is very important to know yourself in order to bring out the best fashion sense in you. At the same time, we must know that fashion grows. With changes in age and lifestyle, our fashion should also follow accordingly.
Q: How do you define a perfect fashion style?
A: A perfect fashion style allows a person to feel confident and it compliments one’s personality.
Q: What are your interests, and what do you do in your spare time?
A: I prefer to stay at home to rest. Because in my line of work, I have to attend many events and do a lot of socializing. I also do physical exercise in order to maintain a healthy body figure and that is why I workout at least twice a week.
Q: What is the most important thing in your life?
A: Support. Getting the support from family, friends and loved ones is very important to me. To me, without a harmonious family and a balanced life, all the materialistic things in the world are meaningless.
Q: What is most memorable to you?
A: As for this year, my most memorable achievement is to work with Suria KLCC by being their ambassador for their men’s section campaign. As I have been to Suria KLCC for many years, never have I thought that I would one day see myself all over the prestigious mall.
Q: What is your secret to success?
A: Be persistent and continue to do what you want to do, learn to grow and improve. Take Instagram as an example, we cannot be only posting photos. We have to learn to shoot and edit videos, to write and to develop along with society.
Q: What is the definition of success to you?
A: The definition of success is very subjective. It is how people perceive you to be and how they define you. If they see you as successful, then you are successful because you cannot self-proclaim success, it just doesn’t work that way.
